Arrested For Interfering With A Flight Crew

RAFAEL ALBERTO HOLAZO, age 49, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was arrested without incident yesterday, May 9, 2007, with Crimes Aboard Aircraft, Interfering with A Flight Crew (Title 49, United States Code, Section 46504), which occurred on Northwest Airline Flight #71, en route from Detroit, Michigan to Nagoya, Japan.

Toni Fogle, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI for the State of Alaska, stated that according to the criminal complaint, approximately three hours after departing Detroit, HOLAZO started swearing and harassing passengers and flight crew. During the flight HOLAZO was told to return to his seat. The flight attendant then showed HOLAZO a violation card, at which time HOLAZO became agitated and lunged at a flight attendant, grabbing the flight attendant's shoulder. Two passengers interceded, pulling HOLAZO away from the flight attendant. The flight was then diverted to Ted Stevens International Airport, where HOLAZO was arrested by Airport Police and FBI Agents in Anchorage, Alaska.

HOLAZO is currently being held in the Anchorage City Jail and his initial appearance before a U.S. Magistrate is scheduled for tomorrow at 10:00 am.
