Employment

Currently, the FBI is actively recruiting in the minority community.  The Anchorage Division is recruiting individuals for the Special Agent (SA) position. SA applicants must

  • be a United States citizen
  • be completely available for assignment anywhere in the Bureau's jurisdiction
  • between the ages of 23 to 36 (average age of new agent is 30)
  • possess a valid driver's license
  • be in excellent physical condition with no disabilities which would interfere in firearm use, raids, or defensive tactics
  • be able to pass a thorough background check

The FBI is looking for Special Agents with the following backgrounds:

·        Foreign Language – four year college degree and language for which the FBI has a current need.  Must pass proficiency exam in claimed language.

·        Tactical Recruitment Program (TRP) – see website for more information.

·        Computer Sciences/MIS – four year college degree in Computer Science/MIS or CISCO certified engineer (full time experience waived).

·        Intelligence Experience – four year college degree and two years full-time work experience in an intelligence area – foreign counterintelligence, counterterrorism, positive intelligence.

·        Engineering – four year college degree in any Engineering field, including architecture.

·        Physical Sciences – four year college degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biochemistry, Nursing.

·        Accounting/Finance – four year college degree in Accounting or Finance or CPA.

·        Law Enforcement – four year college degree and two years investigative experience in a law enforcement agency.

·        Military – four year college degree and two years substantial full-time work experience in the military.

·        Diversified – four year college degree in any discipline and three years full-time work experience

The FBI also hires a variety of entry-level clerical, technical, and professional support personnel when positions are available.

All applicants must pass written tests, interviews, a polygraph examination, and a thorough background investigation.
