Anchorage Drug Dealer Receives 10 Years in Federal Prison

ANCHORAGE, AK—Acting United States Attorney Kevin R. Feldis announced that Donteh Mone Devoe, a resident of Anchorage, Alaska, was sentenced in federal court in Anchorage to 120 months for his convictions of distribution of controlled substances.

United States District Court Judge Timothy M. Burgess imposed the sentence on Devoe, 31.

According to information presented to the court by Special Assistant United States Attorney Erin White, the defendant sold crack cocaine to a government informant on two separate occasions in 2007. The total amount of crack cocaine distributed by the defendant was 13.3 grams.

Prior to imposing sentence, Judge Burgess found Devoe to be a career offender because Devoe has prior felony convictions for misconduct involving a controlled substance in the third degree and a crime of violence. Judge Burgess noted that Devoe was not a stranger to the criminal justice system and had escalated previous situations by running from law enforcement. Judge Burgess held that a sentence of 120 months was sufficient to deter the defendant from committing future crimes, to deter others from selling drugs, and to protect the public.

Mr. Feldis commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Task Force and the Municipal Prosecutor’s Office for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Devoe. Ms. White is one of two prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney’s Office who are funded by the Municipality of Anchorage for the purpose of prosecuting gang-related and violent crime cases.
