ANCHORAGE MAN SENTENCED TO A TOTAL OF 10 YEARS AND 8 MONTHS IN
FEDERAL PRISON FOR CRACK COCAINE DISTRIBUTION, ILLEGAL POSSESSION
OF FIREARMS AND VIOLATING TERMS OF SUPERVISED RELEASE

Anchorage, Alaska – United States Attorney Nelson P. Cohen announced that on January 7, 2008, Robert Anthony Delvillar, a resident of Anchorage, Alaska, was sentenced in federal court in Anchorage to 110 months for his convictions of distribution of crack cocaine and being a felon in possession of firearms.

United States District Court Judge Timothy M. Burgess imposed the sentence on Delvillar, age 33, of 320 McCarry Street, in Anchorage.

According to information presented to the court by Special Assistant United States Attorney Erin White, Delvillar, a convicted felon, sold five firearms and distributed over fifty grams of crack cocaine to a confidential informant working for the United States.

Prior to imposing sentence, Judge Burgess noted the defendant’s significant history of criminal conduct and a need to protect the public. At the time of the offenses, Delvillar was on supervised release for a prior felon-in-possession of a firearm conviction. In addition to the 110-month sentence for the new crimes, Judge Burgess sentenced Delvillar to an additional 20 months for violating the terms of his supervised release.

Mr. Cohen commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Task Force for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Delvillar. SAUSA White is one of two prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney’s Office who are funded by the Municipality of Anchorage for the purpose of prosecuting gang-related and violent crime cases.
